The Best 15-Min DIY Brake Noise Diagnosis & Repair Tutorial Ever

One day way back when I was a punk kid—like 15 or so—I was helping a  friend “fix” the brakes on his new-to-him ’78 Chevy C-10 pickup truck. He was 16 and had just started driving. He also thought he knew everything there was to know about cars and trucks. We all did at that age.

In his dry and sandy driveway, we spent about an hour ripping the brakes off the truck. Having grown-up with a family full of mechanics and toying with quite a few rides myself, I knew this wasn’t going to end well before it ever started. I tried to warn him, but we ended up getting into it and, for the most part, did things his way.

In the end, the brakes on his truck did work, but holy mother of screech and squeal—they were noisy! If only YouTube was a thing back then.

We just love the videos ChrisFix creates. He’s a YouTuber we’ve followed for a while and have shared a few of his videos here on GarageSpot. And this 15-minute brake noise diagnosis and repair tutorial is one of the best we’ve seen—clear, concise, yet Chris covers everything you need to know about fixing noisy brakes in your own [non-sandy] driveway.

Enjoy it – we did!
