SpotCheck #32

A quick look at some of the cool stuff that has come across our workbench or inbox this week.

Oil Stains Have Met Their Match

Oil Vanish We've tried a bunch of different concrete cleaners and very few actually work. Then we got a can of Oil Vanish ($14) and the results were great! This stuff removes oil and grease stains from concrete, asphalt, brick, pavers, and masonry surfaces. Effective on motor oil, gasoline, diesel, tar, grease stains, and more. One 16oz aerosol can covers about 60 sq ft. Buh buh oil.

Shred Leaves Like a Boss!

WORX W430 Leaf Mulcher Fall will be here before we know it, and that means leaves... lots and lots of leaves. Instead of throwing them in the landfill, why not mulch 'em? The WORX WG430 Leaf Mulcher ($125) features a powerful 13 Amp motor running at 8,500 RPM, mulching up to 53 gallons/minute. Shredded leaves are discharged out the bottom and into almost any kind of bag (which clamps to the unit) or a bucket. Tool-free assembly and ultra compact for easy storage.

Detailer's Tool Belt

Detailer's Belt Construction guys aren't the only ones who need toolbelts! The Belt ($60) from AutoGeek makes automobile detailing easier because you’ll always have your spray bottles, polish, towels, buffing pads, and more on you at all times. The adjustable belt is made from a soft machine washable fabric with no metal or plastic clasps that would scratch a car's paint. Mix-and-match the bags for whatever you carry most.

A "Hidden" Bedliner

Dualliner Custom Camo Bed Liner If camouflage is your thing, DualLiner's got you covered. Actually, your truck bed. Their new Custom Camo Bedliners feature full-color photorealistic licensed camouflage finishes. Each liner is sealed with automotive-grade polyurethane with flex agents and UV inhibitors designed to resistant harsh weather, marring and fading. Available for most GM, Ford, and Dodge pickup trucks from 1999 to 2016/2017 model year.

VIN Etching Made Easy

Secure VIN Most newer vehicles have the VIN number etched into the glass, among other things. While this won't really deter break-ins or joy-riders, selling stolen vehicles or their parts is big business. And no thief wants to replace all of the glass in the vehicle, so they'll pass when all of the glass is etched with the VIN. You can do this yourself with a kit like the one from Secure Vin (~$20). You will need to email your VIN to them upon purchase, which you can do directly through Amazon.

Stop Winding Trimmer Line!!

Handy Camel Sure Load Trimmer Line If there's one thing we hate when doing yard work, it's dealing with wind-up trimmer line. Ugh. The Handy Camel Sure Load Universal Trimmer Head ($29) fits most gas trimmers and features an easy-loading impact-resistant trimmer head that accepts the company's pre-cut, hex shaped polymer plastic trimming line. 80-piece refill line available for about $14.
